Spruce Architecture was commissioned to design a small industrial development for oak framing company English Heritage Buildings. This project was a major milestone for the firm, marking its largest undertaking to date. Our team utilised a wide range of skills, including architectural design, visualisations, and drone photography, to bring the desired outcome to life.

We were brought on board from the outset by Planning Consultants, Parker Dann, who were responsible for handling all of the planning policy and supporting information requirements. The project went through a fairly sensitive pre-application process with Rother District Council. In the first instance the planning officers struggled to support the concept but after a slight redesign we were able to reach a consensus which led to the submitted scheme.

The design of the buildings incorporates the use of as many natural materials as possible, Glulam portal frames and timber cladding to create a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing outcome.
