A small development of industrial buildings for oak framing company English Heritage Buildings. This was a landmark project for Spruce Architecture in that it was the largest undertaking we’ve had as a firm so far. We had to employ many of our skills in order to get the desired result; architectural design, visualisations and drone photography to name a few.
We were brought on board from the outset by Planning Consultants, Parker Dann, who handled all the planning policy and supporting information requirements for the project.
The project went through a fairly sensitive pre-application process with Rother District Council. In the first instance the planning officers struggled to support the concept but after a slight redesign we were able to reach a consensus which led to the submitted scheme.
The plan is to construct the buildings using as many natural materials as possible, Glulam portal frames and timber cladding will form the basis for this.
The project is currently being considered for planning approval and it’s hoped to gain approval in 2018.
