Eco-friendly family home designed for future living
Maresfield, East Sussex
Our client wanted to secure planning permission for a new build on a plot of their land with a design of a detached family home. We achieved planning permission with a design for a three bedroom house with integrated garage.
Wanting to build a home for retirement which kept running costs down with eco house considerations were important as well as keeping the house nice and warm. Extra thick walls and high insulation levels approaching Passivhaus standards with mechanical heat recovery were designed to achieve this.
The outside saw off-white render to ground floor, red clay tile hanging to first floor and red clay tiles to the roof including solar panels and air source heat pumps.
Inside the ground floor featured a double height living space with internal landing balcony above, a cinema room plus a dog room, small bathroom and utility room. The kitchen-dining area was open plan and included large doors out the back of the property as well as a library wall. We also allowed for a future space for a lift if needed.
The first floor saw a primary bedroom with en-suite as well as walk in wardrobe, two further bedrooms with two more bathrooms. Lastly a reading area was designed on the landing to give a separate living space.
