The development consists of two sets of semi-detached houses, each with private gardens, bicycle and bin stores, and a spacious layout ideal for family living. These homes were created to offer a blend of practicality and aesthetics, with every detail designed to enhance the living experience while respecting the natural beauty of the area.
The challenge
The challenge of this project was to create a set of homes that could comfortably accommodate modern families while maintaining a relaxed, community-focused atmosphere. With a limited amount of space and a desire for privacy, the homes needed to be both functional and inviting, with enough room for growing families, as well as an emphasis on accessibility and sustainability.
The vision
The vision for this project was to design four homes that were both practical and stylish, with an open-plan layout to create spacious, light-filled living areas. Each home would include four bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a focus on accessibility and modern conveniences, like a utility room, bicycle and bin storage, and private gardens for outdoor relaxation. The layout was specifically designed to allow for a seamless flow between living areas while also ensuring each home had its own unique character.
The solution
To create homes that truly met the needs of modern families, we focused on both the layout and the integration of functional spaces, ensuring that each aspect of the design worked in harmony. Here’s a breakdown of the key features:
Chalet-style homes: The homes were designed with a chalet-style aesthetic to create a cozy yet spacious atmosphere. The roof design, with its sloping angles, adds a charming element to the exterior while maximising internal headspace and light. The homes’ natural wooden finishes and clean lines ensure a timeless, welcoming look that fits perfectly into the surrounding environment.
Spacious interiors: Each home offers 158 square metres of living space, providing ample room for both family living and private relaxation. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas are designed to create a sense of community and togetherness, ideal for family meals or social gatherings. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, creating an airy and inviting atmosphere.
Ground floor accessibility: The ground floor includes an accessible bedroom and bathroom, making the home suitable for those who may have mobility challenges or prefer to have a bedroom on the ground level. This feature enhances the flexibility of the home, allowing for multi-generational living or simply greater convenience for family members.
Upstairs bedrooms: Upstairs, each home features three further bedrooms, offering flexibility for family needs, whether it’s for children, a home office, or a guest room. The second family bathroom is conveniently located nearby, with thoughtful touches that make everyday living easier.
